Bio
Ian started his teaching career in 1999 with a national test prep
company in Austin, Texas, helping students prepare for the LSAT.
Soon after, he moved to Boston, Massachusetts where he taught the
LSAT, SAT, GMAT, GRE and MCAT Verbal. He also trained and evaluated
new teachers in addition to his classroom and tutoring responsibilities.
Ian received the highest evaluations of any teachers in the Boston
area, and his students consistently saw score improvements well
above the national averages.
In 2000, Ian traveled to South Korea and taught
test preparation to students eager to attend American graduate schools.
Ian stayed in Korea for 6 months before returning to Boston, with
valuable experience working with non-native English speaking students.
In 2002, he returned to Korea for 4 months, to work with high school
students on the SAT, increase their vocabulary and improve their
writing skills.
After returning to the US, Ian moved back to Austin,
where he continues to help students prepare for the GMAT. In addition
to private tutoring, Ian also teaches a series of GMAT classes for
the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas, and presents
GMAT information sessions in Houston, Austin and Dallas for McCombs.
Education
Ian has a Bachelor's degree in Anthropology, and a minor in Archaeology,
from the University of Texas at Austin.
