The SAT test is a three and a half hour standardized admissions
test used to rate applicants to undergraduate programs in colleges
and universities. Nearly every 4 year school requires an SAT score
to be considered for admissions.
The SAT measures critical thinking skills and consists of a Critical
Reading, Mathematics, and Writing section. Each section is scored
between 200 and 800, thus a perfect score would be 2400. There is
also an additional experimental section. It can be either math or
verbal, and students will not know which one it is.
Because the SAT is a paper-based test, it is administered at scheduled
times throughout the year. It is important when preparing for the
test that students take the test date into consideration, and we
recommend spending at least 2 months preparing for the test.

Students can take the test as many times as they would like, but
since most schools also require SAT
Subject Tests, which are given at the same time, students are
limited as to the number of opportunities to take the test. Students
should plan to take the SAT at least once in their Junior year to
allow them a second opportunity in their Senior years.
